Hi God!

Isaac came home from pre-school the other day, singing:

"I've got joy, joy, joy, joy, down in my heart!
(Where?)
Down in my heart.
(Where?)
Down in my heart.
I've got the joy of Jesus down in my heart, down in my heart to stay"

Those of you of a certain age will remember this song from your own Catholic childhoods. In the 70s and early 80s, the songs of Rev. Carey Landry were the mainstay of Catholic children's music. Songs like "If I were a Butterfly," "Peace is Flowing Like a River," "Hi, God!" and so many others are such a wonderful memory. I had given up hope that they were used anymore until Isaac came home with this one.

When we went to my parents' house yesterday, I pulled out the old record and played it for him. The songs still make me smile.

We sing this one on our way to school every day. There's a second verse (courtesy of Sarah) that they sing even louder:

"And if the devil doesn't like it we'll just kick him on the butt *Ouch*"

I always make sure we end with a last chorus of "Joy Joy" and a final admonition:

"How do we fight evil?"
"By doing G-o-o-o-d!" Amen.

We sang this in vacation bible school.
With the volume the loudest at the end.
"And if the devil doesn't like it he can sit on a Tack! Yow! Sit on a Tack! Yow! Sit on a Tack! And if the devil doesn't like it he can sit on a Tack! Yow! Sit on a Tack all Day! YOW!
Thanks for the memmory.
