February 23, 2010 Tuesday of Lent

This is how you are to pray:

Our Father who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name,
thy Kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
- Matthew 6:9-13

The "Our Father" is the prayer that Jesus gave us. It is the perfect prayer, offering praise and encompassing all our needs. It is a prayer that we are so familiar with that we often say it without even thinking about it. Perhaps today we can say it slowly and reflect deeply on the words that Jesus gave us.
